Julia Bennett, L.Ac.

Julia Bennett is a founding member and co-owner of Third Root, an acupuncturist, and longtime Flatbush resident. She began her acupuncture training underground at the Lincoln Detox Center in the Bronx, treating individuals facing addiction and AIDS with the Black Panthers and Young Lords in the 1970s and 1980s. She went on to become a board-certified licensed acupuncturist and herbalist trained in Chinese, Japanese and Native American medicine traditions. Julia is passionate about community health concerns for women, especially those who have tested positive for HIV and AIDS and believes that to address the health challenges of humanity we must acknowledge wellness as a birthright. She holds a post-graduate degree in Advanced Herbal Kampo Medicine from the TriState College of Acupuncture, an MS in Acupuncture from the Pacific College of Medicine, and an MA and BA in Education from City College.
