Darryl I. Owens, MDiv, BCC, CT, RTSCBC
Darryl Owens serves as the Women’s Services Chaplain and Grief Counselor at the University of North Carolina Hospitals in Chapel Hill, NC. He provides spiritual care and emotional support to patients, families, and staff, and leads the hospital’s perinatal bereavement program. Darryl is a member of the Bereavement Team and has co-facilitated community support groups for grieving families for many years.
He is a certified clinical chaplain through the Association for Professional Chaplains, where he also served as a Past President. Additionally, he holds certifications in thanatology from the Association for Death Education and Counseling, and in Perinatal Loss Care from the Hospice and Palliative Credentialing Center. For over two decades, Darryl has been a national faculty member for Resolve Through Sharing Perinatal Bereavement Services.
Beyond his professional roles, Darryl is an ordained clergyman, published author, husband, father, and grandfather.
